In the few years since moving my business from Kansas to be a Colorado wedding photographer, I’ve loved seeing the diverse range of venues available to couples getting married in this beautiful state. There really does seems to be something for everyone! One of the venues that really aligns with my approach to a wedding day is Winding River Ranch. The people of WRR want to share their beautiful space to laid-back couples looking for a reasonably priced venue who have a simple vision for their big day with the option for guests to stay on-property. It’s beautiful. The people who work and live there are phenomenal hosts. It’s inclusive while allowing for vendor freedom. It’s a blank canvas in so many regards. It’s rustic. It’s located right outside of the adorable mountain town of Grand Lake, Colorado. It’s definitely worth looking into!
Melissa, Travis and Granny welcomed us to the ranch last summer to soak it all in. I can’t wait to photograph a couple of weddings there in the next few months!
Such a picturesque barn for receptions and an indoor option!
I love what they’ve done by converting an island in the river into a perfect, classic Colorado location for ceremonies…
It’s not uncommon to see some great wildlife around the property, too!
I’ll end with these sweet photos of the great people who make the ranch what it is. Granny moved out from the midwest with her husband more than 50 years ago and continues to shower the ranch with her spirited personality. She’s always stylishly dressed, and I have yet to see her in footwear other than cowgirl boots! Her grandson, Travis, and his wife, Melissa, are the backbone of the ranch and make it a welcome place for weddings as well as respite for military veterans and families looking to enjoy a pure piece of Colorado.
