Frequently Asked Questions
Tell me about full story coverage. You don’t set time limits on a wedding day?
That’s right! I don’t set time limits for wedding coverage because I want to be available to tell the story of the day for you. Generally, this looks like me arriving for an hour or so of getting ready photos, and I’m typically there through the end of your reception!
Do you travel for weddings or sessions? What are those costs?
Yes, I LOVE to travel! I don’t charge travel fees for weddings in Colorado. For out-of-state events, I create a custom quote for travel taking your location, event, time of year, etc. into consideration, and I try to keep it really reasonable. And if you happen to be planning your wedding in some fabulous location abroad, I just might have some extremely reasonable rates for travel… ;)
We’re planning an epic adventure elopement. Is this an idea you’d explore with us?
Absolutely! Send over your ideas, and we’ll see if we’re a good fit.
Should we do engagement photos?
Yes, yes, yes! Making time for an engagement session with your wedding photographer is invaluable. Not only will you get some great photos of the two of you not in wedding attire, but you’ll also get a chance to see how I work (and I get to see how you two interact), so you’ll know exactly what to expect on the wedding day when it comes to photography. I love when your family and friends tell me your photos are “so you,” and an engagement session is just one more opportunity for us to hang out before the wedding so I can get to know you even better.
Do we need a second photographer?
Great question! Every photographer has different preferences. I am very comfortable with and prefer to work solo when possible, but occasionally a second photographer may make sense for all or part of your day. The considerations are your guest count, your timeline, your day-of location(s) and their proximity to one another, and whether or not you’ll be seeing each other before your ceremony. I’m more than happy to talk through the day with you beforehand to make a recommendation regarding a second photographer, and that’s a decision we can wait to make until a couple of months before the wedding as the structure of the day becomes more evident.
We see a lot of wedding work. Do you do family sessions as well?
Yes, I do! While the primary part of my business is weddings and engagement sessions, I still photograph a fair number of family and other portrait sessions throughout the year.
How do we get started?
Let’s first make sure I’m available for your date, and then let’s get together! I really like to meet with couples (over a video call or in-person if you’re in the Denver area) first thing so we can get to know a little about each other and you can tell me about your vision for the day. Once you decide we’re a good fit, I’ll send over a digital contract, and we’ll go from there!
